Obituary: CLAYTON, June 4---Edgar J. Marshall, Sr., 88, one of the oldest residents of this village, a retired contractor, died at 4 this morning at the home of his son, Fred Marshall, 417 James St., following an illness of six months.
He was born June 7, 1848, in Clayton, a son of the late John and Mary Hugunin Marshall. He spent most of his life in this vicinity. Mr. Marshall was well known here. He had been a contractor and builder for many years. Mr. Marshall
constructed several summer homes in Clayton including the Morgan cottages at Buck and Rum Point. He retired from active work several years ago.He married Miss Mary Robbins Aug. 24, 1869, at Alexandria Bay. She died Oct. 16, 1907. Mr. Marshall made his home in Clayton and on Grindstone Island.
Surviving are two sons, Edgar J. Marshall, Jr., and Fred Marshall, both of Clayton. Another son, Hiram Marshall, died in July, 1936. A daughter, Mrs. William Farrell, expired in March, 1924.
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 from the home of his son, Fred. Rev. Royal Fishbeck, pastor of the Methodist Episcopal Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery.
