Obituary (from newspaper of 4 April 1949): CLAYTON---Mrs. Carrie Garnsey Fitzgerald Russell, 82, widow of John Russell of Clayton, died Sunday evening at 10 in the Jefferson County Sanatorium, Watertown. Mrs. Russell suffered an embolism and
entered the hospital last Monday.Funeral services will be held Tuesday afternoon at 2 from the Cummings Funeral Home in Clayton with Rev. Henry Bridge, pastor of the Clayton Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in the St. Lawrence Cemetery.
Mrs. Russell was born on Grindstone Island, March 30, 1867, a daughter of George R. and Amorita Chase Garnsey. In 1886 she was married to James Fitzgerald of Clayton, who died in 1901. Of the six children born to this couple, four are
living. Ther are: Mrs. Karl (Leona) McAvoy, Clayton; Mrs. Walter (Esther) Roach, Binghamton; Mrs. Charles (Ruth) Maricle, Buffalo, and George Fitzgerald, Binghamton.In 1904, Mrs. Russell was married to John Russell. Two children of this marriage survive. They are Mrs. Lorne (Rosalie) Barker of Dexter and Ernest L. Russell, with whom Mrs. Russell had been residing in Clayton.
Mr. and Mrs. Russell resided on a farm near Clayton until Mr. Russel retired in 1937. At that time they moved to the Garnsey apartments on Merrick St., and resided there until June, 1945, when Mr. Garnsey died.
Surviving Mrs. Russell besides her children are three sisters, Mrs. Edward (Gladys) Marshall, Mrs. Malcolm (Lula) Cummings, and Miss Eva Garnsey, and a brother, John Garnsey, all of Clayton.
Obituary (from newspaper of 9 Sept. 1968): CLAYTON---Marshall E. (Brick) Farrell, 69, of 522 Riverside Dr., a retired plumber and Clayton native, died Sunday at 1:30 p.m., in Cedar's Nursing Home, Ogdensburg, where he had been a patient four
months. He had suffered a stroke in December 1966.The funeral will be Wednesday at 8:30 a.m., at Cummings Funeral Home, and at 9 in St. Mary's Church. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9 and Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ruth McKinley Farrell; a daughter, Mrs. Donald (Betty) Turcotte, Clayton; and a son, Francis W., Clayton.
Mr. Farrell was born in Clayton, Sept. 18, 1898, a son of William and Cora Marshall Farrell. He attended Clayton High School and worked for Haas and Halloway machine shop and Frink Sno-Plow, before purchasing the interest of C.J. Cain in
the hardware and plumbing business of Farrell and Cain, Inc., where his father had been a partner. He married the former Ruth McKinley, Aug. 21, 1921, in St. Mary's Church.Mr. Farrell had been a member of Knights of Columbus, a life member of the fire department, and a life member of the Fish and Game Club. He had been associated with the Thousand Island Museum.

Obituary: CLAYTON, Jan. 28---Mrs. Mary McCreedden Marshall, 54, wife of Fred Marshall, tour boat line captain, dropped dead at 10:45 this morning at her home at 417 James St., this village, a victim of heart disease.Her death was unexpected. She had been about the streets of the business section of the village Wednesday and was walking through the house when stricken this morning.
Mrs. Marshall was born in County Monahan, Scottstown, Ireland, on Nov. 21, 1882, a daughter of John and Mary McCreedden. She came to this country in 1901 and lived in New York City until she married there on Feb. 18, 1909, to Mr.
Marshall. They resided on Grindstone Island for eleven years and then moved to their present home in this village in 1920.The survivors are her husband; one son, Robert Marshall of Chicago; four sisters, Mrs. Allen Campbell of Watertown and three in Ireland, and two brothers, John and Michael McCreedden, both of Ireland. Her son, Robert, is a graduate of
Clarkson.Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 9 from the home and at 9:30 from the St. Mary's Catholic Church in this village, Rev. George E. Racette, pastor, officiating. Burial will be made in North Watertown Cemetery.

Obituary (from Watertown Daily Times of Saturday, 5 Oct. 1996): CLAYTON---A private funeral for Robert R. Marshall, 86, of 415 John St., will be at the family's convenience. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery.Mr. Marshall died 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Edward John Noble Hospital-Samaritan, Alexandria Bay.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Home.
Mr. Marshall was a valve engineer with General Electric, Syracuse, retiring in 1971. Before that, he had been employed by IBM, Endicott.
Born Dec. 3, 1909, on Grindstone Island, son of Fred and Mary McCrudden Marshall, he attended Grindstone Island schools and graduated from Clayton High School, later receiving a bachelor's degree in business administration from Clarkson
College of Technology, Potsdam.He married Elizabeth Bowen on March 27, 1937, in the rectory of Passion Monastery, Jamaica, Long Island. The couple moved to Binghamton, when Mr. Marshall was employed by IBM, later moving to Fayetteville when he became employed by GE.
They returned to Clayton in the 1970s and had also spent many winters in Stuart, Fla., and later at Vero Beach, Fla. For the past several years, the Marshalls had been year-round residents of Clayton because of ill health.
Mr. Marshall attended Christ Episcopal Church.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Mrs. John M. (Judith A.) Carter, Wellesley Island; three grandchildren, a great-grandson and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A daughter, Virginia B. Marshall, died Aug. 27, 1971.
