Beatrice PLUMB

Obituary:  Died: In Clayton, N.Y., March 1, 1891, Beatrice, daughter of Sanford and Betsey Plumb, age 21 years.

It is with sad hearts that we attempt to give utterance to the thought, that one we loved so much has gone from us.  But we have that blessed assurance that to her it is like the clear sunshine, after the clouds have past.

Atta embraced the religion of Jesus Christ, about five years ago and has ever been faithful to the church of her choice.  Ever ready to do what she could to promote the interest of the Sabbath school, of which she was both scholar and
teacher.  All the long weeks of suffering had wasted her body, yet her mind and heart were stayed of Him, who will never leave nor forsake.  Her life was all purity, sincerity, obedience and self sacrifice.  Her love for her mother was her
stongest hold on earth, and with her feeblest breath she blessed the name of her darling mother.

She is not dead--the child of our affection,

         But gone unto that school

Where she no longer needs our poor protection,

         And Christ himself doth rule.

A father, mother and five sisters surviver her.  Much sympathy is felt for the ones who are far away in Montana and Dakota, as Atta was the favorite of the entire family.

James PLUMB

James, a native of Vermont, was one of the pioneer settlers in the town of Clayton, locating at Depauville when the only habitation there was an Indian hut.  Here he cleared a farm and built a grist-mill.
