Obituary (from the Watertown Daily Times of 8 Jan. 1944): CLAYTON---George Clinton McCarn, 77, retired farmer, died at his home, 723 James St., at 4:30 Friday afternoon following an illness of five days.
Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2 from the home. Rev. Thomas J. Williams, pastor of the Clayton Methodist Church, will officiate. Burial will be made in the Clayton Cemetery.
Surviving him are his wife, Mrs. Mary Delmare McCarn, Clayton, and a brother, Charles McCarn, New York.
George C. McCarn was born in Clayton, May 3, 1866, a son of Clinton and Phoebe Spalsbury McCarn.
Obituary: Mrs. Mary Delmar McCarn, 88, widow of George C. McCarn and a former resident of the town of Clayton, died at 4 Friday afternoon in the Henry Keep Home, 920 Washington St., where she had been a guest since April 11, 1944. Death
followed a long illness.The funeral will be Monday morning at 10 at the Keep Home. Rev. Robert F. Smith, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. Burial will be in the Clayton Cemetery.
Survivors include two nieces, Mrs. Earl B. (Louise Cox) Sterling, 158 Academy St., and Mrs. Lura Cox Doran, 505 Washington St.
Mrs. McCarn was born Jan. 2, 1871, in the town of Lyme, a daughter of Peter and Mary Tiernan Delmar. The family later lived on the Cape Vincent-Clayton Road in the town of Clayton, two miles from Clayton.
She was married to George C. McCarn Feb 4, 1899 at Redwood and they resided for years on a farm on the River Road, town of Clayton. After retiring from farming, they sold the farm and moved into the village of Clayton. They lived at 723
James St., where Mr. McCarn died Jan. 7, 1944.Three months after her husband died Mrs. McCarn came to the Keep Home.
Mrs. McCarn had three sisters and three brothers, but all are dead. They were: Mrs. Charles (Anna) Simonds, Mrs. Fred (Clara) Simonds, Mrs. Lincoln (Nellie) Cox, George, Richard, and William Delmar.
