Obituary (from newspaper of 16 Feb. 1995): CLAYTON---C. William Fraser, 71, of Belmont, Mass., and a native of Clayton, died Wednesday in Watertown, Mass., after a long illness.
A funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart Church, Watertown. Burial will be in Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Cambridge, Mass.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Stanton Funeral Home, Watertown. Donations may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 40 Speen St., P.O. Box 1221, Framingham, Mass., 01701.
Surviving are his wife, the former Frances M. Rooney Fraser, Belmont; two sons, David C., Beverly, Mass., and Kevin C., Winchester, Mass.; a brother, John Fraser, Clayton, and a sister, Margaret McCormack, Montpellier, Vt.
Born Jan. 3, 1924, in Clayton, a son of the late Cameron and Florence Brabant Fraser and stepson of the late Ethel Sternberg Fraser, he attended local schools.
Mr. Fraser was a manufacturer's representative for heating equipment.
Obituary (from newspaper of 19 May 1962): CLAYTON---Hiram B. Wiswell, 56, fishing guide, died at 9:30 this morning at his home, 618 James Street, after an illness of several months.
The funeral will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Cummings Funeral Home, Clayton, Rev. Russell E. Little, pastor of the Clayton Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to
9 p.m. Sunday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday.Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Frances E. Palmer Wisell; two daughters, Mrs. John (Jean) Schafer, and Mrs. James (Norma) Fulmer, both of Clayton; a sister, Mrs. Edward (Loleta) Roux, Schenectady, and seven grandchildren.
Mr. Wiswell was born Sept. 27, 1905, in Clayton, son of Bert and Harriette Clark Wiswell. He was educated here and spent his entire life in the community. He was a fishing guide on the river and off and on was employed at Mercer's
Shipyard. He worked as usual last summer.A veteran of naval reserve service in World War II from Jan. 3, 1944 to Nov. 27, 1945, Mr. Wiswell was a member of the American Legion for 17 years.
On Sept. 30, 1926, he married Miss Frances Palmer of Adams in the parsonage of the Adams Methodist Church with Rev. William A. Gardner officiating.
Obituary (from newspaper of 15 Feb. 2000): CLAYTON---Frances E. Wiswell, 91, formerly of Riverview Apartments, died at 4:45 a.m. Sunday at Genesis HealthCare, Watertown, where she had been a patient since Oct. 31, 1994.
Mrs. Wiswell was a secretary at the former Mercy Hospital, Watertown, and was a part-time housemother for hospital's School of Nursing, retiring in 1970.
Born March 29, 1908, in Adams, daughter of Myron R. and Jessie Dening Palmer, she attended Adams schools and worked during her summer vacations waiting tables in the Clayton area.
She married Hiram B. Wiswell on Sept. 30, 1926, at Adams Methodist Church with the Rev. William A. Gardner officiating. The couple moved to Clayton after their marriage and operated a tourist home of James Street. Mr. Wiswell, a boat
builder and fishing guide, died May 19, 1962.Mrs. Wiswell was a member of Clayton United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge and a 57-year member of Colon-Couch American Legion Post 821 Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter and her husband, Jean E. and John N. Schafer Sr., Clayton; seven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A daughter, Norma L. Fulmer, died Oct. 7, 1995. A brother, Myron R. Palmer Jr., and two sisters, Mildred Buduson and Marjorie Marshall, also died before her.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Feb. 26 at Clayton United Methodist Church with the Rev. Joseph A. DeGroote, pastor, officiating. Spring burial will be in Clayton Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with Cummings Funeral Home, Clayton.
