Obituary (from Watertown Daily Times of 7 Jan. 1983): CLAYTON---Henry C. (Stiddo) Balcom, 63, of the Bronx, formerly of Clayton, died Jan. 1 at his home.
The funeral was Tuesday at the Church of St. Brendan, the Bronx. Burial was in Calverton National Cemetery, Long Island.
Surviving are his wife, Marguerite Kelly Balcom; two sons, George and John; two daughters, Mary Balcom and Mrs. Patricia Johnston; a brother, Lawrence C., Clayton and Boynton Beach, Fla.; an aunt, Besse Eddy, Cape Vincent; and three
grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.A brother, Roderick died Dec. 24, 1931.
He was born Jan. 18, 1919, in Clayton, the son of Harry G. and Sadie Paige Balcom.
Mr. Balcom was graduated from St. Mary's High School and was married to Marguerite Kelly Nov. 22, 1943 in St. Peter's and St. Paul's Church, New York City.
He worked at Warner Knitting Mill and enlisted in the Navy Dec. 11, 1941, and served in the North African, the Marshall Islands, the Marianas, the Gilberts, and the Peleliu campaigns.
After the war, Mr. Balcom worked for the U.S. Postal Service in the Bronx.
He was a past grand knight of Council 266 of the Knights of Columbus, Bronx.
