Alfred H. DORR

Obituary (from newspaper of 1 Aug. 1966):  DEPAUVILLE---Alfred H. Dorr, 84, retired farmer and carpenter, died Sunday at 7 p.m., in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where he had been a patient since July 20.

    The funeral will be Wednesday at 2 p.m., at the Cummings Funeral Home, Clayton, with Rev. Frank MacLaughlin, pastor of the LaFargeville and Depauville Methodist Churches, officiating.  Burial will be in Depauville Cemetery.

    Friends may call at the funeral home tonight from 7 to 9, and Tuesday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.

    Surviving are: his wife, Mrs. Margaret Turcotte Dorr; two sons, Albert H., Depauville, and Harold R., Buffalo; a daughter, Mrs. Fred C. (Ruth) Gould, Depauville; a brother, Clarence, Depauville; a sister, Mrs. Columbus (Florence) Commins,
Rices Road; 16 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren.  A son, Leonard, died Sept. 1964.

    Mr. Dorr was born in the town of Orleans, Feb. 3, 1882, a son of David H. and Mary Wetterhahn Dorr.  He attended Clayton schools and was graduated with the first training class of Clayton.

    He taught at Three Mile Creek and Grindstone Island.  Mr.  Dorr married Margaret Turcotte, Jan. 31, 1905, in the Methodist Church in Gananoque, Ont.  After marriage the couple moved to Depauville, where they operated a farm until Mr.
Dorr's retirement.

    Mr Dorr was a life member of the Depauville Masonic Lodge 688, F. & A. M., and a former Golden Sheaf of the Grange.

Mary WETTERHAHN

Obituary:  DEPAUVILLE, July 8.---Mrs. Mary Wetterhahn Dorr, 74, wife of David Dorr, died at 7:15 this morning at their farm home here after an illness of nearly seven years.

    She was born in the town of Clayton on July 18, 1861, a daughter of Jacob and Mary Wetterhahn.  On Dec. 30, 1880 she was married to Mr. Dorr.  They moved to South Dakota where they resided for 13 years and then returned to Depauville where
they had since resided on a farm.  They celebrated their golden wedding five years ago.

    Mrs. Dorr was a member of the Depauville O.E.S. and the Grange.

    Besides her husband she is survived by two sons, Clarence and Alfred Dorr, both of LaFargeville; one daughter, Mrs. C. Columbus Cumins of Clayton; one sister, Mrs. Sarah Cornwell of Watertown; one brother, Henry Wetterhahn of Watertown;
eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

    The funeral will be held from the home Friday at 1:30 p.m. (E.S.T.) and from the Depauville Methodist Episcopal Church at 2 p.m., Rev. Mr. Walker officiating.  Burial will be in the Depauville Cemetery.
