Obituary (from newspaper of 15 March 1994): CAPE VINCENT---Carleton W. Buskirk, 82, of 9030 Brewerton Road, Brewerton, a native of Carleton Island, died Tuesday in St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse.
The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Traub Funeral Home, Central Square, and 9:30 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church, Cicero. Burial will be in Pine Plains Cemetery, Clay.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. Friday at the funeral home.
Surviving are his wife, Mary F.; three sons, James, Anaheim, Calif.; Carleton Jr., Brewerton, and Joel, Syracuse; a daughter, Ellen Buskirk, Fountain Valley, Calif.; seven grandchildren; a sister, Korleen Byam, Watertown, and several nieces
and nephews.Born on Carleton Island, he also lived in the Watertown area before moving to Brewerton in 1953.
He married Mary Frances Foley of Dexter on Aug. 27, 1938, in the Catholic Church of Chaumont.
Mr. Buskirk retired in 1970 as an electrician in the diesel shop of the former New York Central Railroad (Conrail), DeWitt, after 24 years.
He was a retired member of the International Federation of Musicians and had played in dance and marching bands throughout Northern New York.
He was a communicant of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Cicero, and a member of its Holy Name Society and the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 1756.
