Isaac served as a private in Capt. Timothy Tamblin's Co. of Lt. Col. Gershom Tuttle's (Jefferson Co.) Regiment, NY State Militia, War of 1812, from 9 Sep. 1812 to 20 Sep. 1812.
Isaac, from the age of 14 years until he was 21, worked in a paper mill and learned the mill carpenter's trade. He built a grist mill in Connecticut and three saw mills on the Black River. He bought and sold a farm in Cazenovia, NY, and
later removed to Antwerp, NY, built a saw mill, ran it for a time and then removed to Watertown, NY. He then went to Ohio, where some of his family lived.
