James's Civil War discharge record says he was a private in the 148th Artillery and enlisted in Aug. of 1863.

Obituary:  CLAYTON---Eleanor P. Mott, 88, Riverview Apartments, 912 Strawberry Lane, died Sunday in the Edward John Noble Hospital emergency room, Alexandria Bay.

    A prayer service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Cummings Funeral Home, with the Rev. Joseph DeGroot, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiating.  Burial will be in Omar Cemetery.

    Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to the Clayton Volunteer Ambulance Fund.

    Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Robert A. (Marion M.) Weaver, Clayton; two sons, Lawrence E., Cape Coral, Fla, and Marvin D., New Boston, NH; nine grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

    A sister, Catherine Dollinger, and two brothers, Handley and Floyd Potter, died before her.

    Born May 4, 1905, in Alexandria Bay, a daughter of Nelson and Ada Smith Potter, she was educated in Alexandria Bay shools and married George O. Mott June 16, 192? in LaFargeville.

    Mrs. Mott was a bookkeeper for Cerow Agency and the Ben Hay Gas Co., retiring in 1970.

    Mr. Mott, a machinist for the New York Air Brake Co., Watertown, died June 1, 1972.

    Mrs. Mott was a member of the United Methodist Church and the Clayton Senior Citizens.


Catherine POTTER

Obituary:  PULASKI---Catharine M. Dollinger, 74, of 7444 Frank Lacey Road, A native of Alexandria Bay, died late Sunday in the House of the Good Samaritan, Watertown, where she had been a patient since Thursday.

    The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Calvary Baptist Church, Richland, with the Rev. Dr. A. Douglas Ferry, pastor, officiating.  Spring burial will be in South Richland Cemetery, Fernwood.

    Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster-Hax Funeral Home.

    Surviving are a son, Bruce M., Plainville; five daughters, Rita C. Moodie, Richland, Carold A. Spencer, Horseheads, Donna M. Lee, Sandy Creek, and Gail F. D'Onofrio, Liverpool; 22 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; a sister, Eleanor
Mott, Clayton, and several nieces and nephews.

    She was born Nov. 1, 1917, at Alexandria Bay, a daughter of Nelson and Ada Smith Potter.  She was a 1935 graduate of Alexandria Bay High School.

    She married Clarence Monroe Dollinger Dec. 10, 1936, at Collins Landing.

    The couple lived in the Alexandria Bay and Omar areas before moving to Pulaski in 1951.  They were also summer residents of Grandview Park, Wellesley Island, for many years.
