Obituary: Roland C. O'Riley, 77, of 215 E. Division St., retired city parking meter attendant and a school crossing guard for many years, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday in the House of the Good Samaritan, where he had undergone surgery Friday.
The funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home with the Rev. Lawrence E. "Larry" Cronk, pastor of the Rutland Congregational Church, officiating. Burial will be in Grove Cemetery, LaFargeville, later in the
spring.Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, where members of the Brownville American Legion, Allen-Giles Post, will conduct a memorial service at 7 Tuesday evening.
Contributions may be made to the Rutland Congregational Church Memorial Fund, Rutland Volunteer Fire Department, or the Greater Watertown Senior Citizens.
Surviving are his wife, Elizabeth, a daughter, Mrs. David (Marie) Hall, town of Rutland; two granddaughters; two brothers, Sheridan M. and Horace "Sparky," both of Watertown; a sister, Mrs. Reginald (Mary) Jones, Watertown, and several
nieces and nephews.A brother, Harlow, and a sister, Margaret Berkman, died previously.
He was born Aug. 30, 1915, in the town of Clayton, a son of Carlton and Cora Murdoch O'Riley. He graduated from Clayton High School in 1933 and was engaged in dairy farming in the Clayton area.
Mr. O'Riley enlisted in the Army in May 1942. He served in the Hawaiian Islands and South Pacific theater until his discharge in November 1945.
He married Elizabeth L. Gowdy June 2, 1946, at the Clayton Methodist Church parsonage with the Rev. Thomas J. Williams officiating.
The couple owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of Rutland from 1954 to 1960. Mr. O'Riley also was a bulk milk tank driver for Harold A. Parks for several years. He then went to work for the city of Watertown as a custodian and
later as a parking meter attendant, retiring in 1980.Mr. O'Riley was also a school crossing guard for the Watertown City School District, working at the intersections of LeRay and West Main streets and East Hoard and Mill streets for many years.
He was a member of the Rutland Congregational Church and a charter member of Rutland Volunteer Fire Department. He was also a member of the Brownville American Legion, Greater Watertown Senior Citizens and the New Senior Citizens Club.

Mrs. O'Riley was a dietician at the cafeteria at Ohio Street Elementary School and Mercy Hopsital, now Genesis HealthCare, retiring in August 1975.
She was a member of the Rutland Congregational Church and a charter member of the Rutland Fire Department Auxiliary, serving as chief in 1960.
She also was a member of the Greater Watertown Senior Citizens, the New Senior Citizens Club of Watertown and the residents council at Samaritan-Keep Home.
Obituary: CARTHAGE---Pearl M. Crowell, 88, of 21246 Oxford St., died Tuesday in the emergency room at Samaritan Medical Center, Watertown, after being stricken ill at the Madonna Home, Watertown, where she had resided temporarily.
Born April 15, 1909, in Alexandria Bay, daughter of Irving and Elsie Hall Plantz, she attended area schools. She was a homemaker all her life.
She married Raymond Potter on Nov. 27, 1929, at the home of Floyd White, Redwood, with the Rev. Ernest Bragg officiating. Mr. Potter, a retiree of J.P. Lewis Co., Beaver Falls, died Sept. 5, 1985.
She married Orley Tooley in February 1987 in Beaver Falls United Methodist Church. Mr. Tooley, a retiree of District 65 Labor Union, New York City, and a gemologist, died June 15, 1991.
She married Allen Crowell on Jan. 8, 1994.
Mrs. Crowell was a lecturer for the former Belfort Grange. She was a member of Beaver Valley United Methodist Church, Beaver Falls, and attended Calvary Assembly of God, West Carthage.
Surviving besides her husband are three daughters, Joyce E. Ackley, Hastings, Elsie B. Berry, Rodman, and Yvonne "Bonnie" Hockey, Carthage; 11 stepchildren; 17 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; 41
stepgrandchildren and 38 step-great-grandchildren.Two sons died before her, Darwin Potter on Dec. 12, 1977, and Raymond Potter on May 26, 1976.
