Obituary: GRINDSTONE ISLAND---Sara (Slate) Emerson died July 14 in Rochester at the age of 86. She was the daughter of the late Richard (Dick) and Catherine Boucker Slate of Grindstone Island, and her early years were spent on Grindstone.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Margery and Jerome Reoger; a sister, Margery Kuebler of Webster; brothers and sisters-in-law, Thomas and Hazel Slate of Clayton and Eugene and Thelma Slate of Rochester; a sister-in-law, Mrs.
Donald (Dorothy) Slate of St. Petersburg, Fla.She was predeceased by four sisters, Mrs. George, (Fanny) Hutchinson of Clayton, Miss Dora Slate of Grindstone Island, Mrs. George (Ruth) Schafer of Clayton, and Mrs. Marion Patchin of Clayton; and two brothers, Victor Slate of Binghamton
and Donald Slate of Rochester.The family conducted a private service July 16 in Clayton.
