Obituary (from newspaper of Friday 1 May 1981): CLAYTON---Mrs. Eva L. Garnsey, 97, formerly of 534 Merrick St., widow of Burton Garnsey, died Tuesday morning at St. Joseph's Hospital, Syracuse, where she had been a patient since April 9. She
had been a resident of the Sunnyside Nursing Home, Syracuse, for the past three years.The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Cummings Funeral Home, with Rev. Kent Walmsley, pastor of the Clayton Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home will be immediately before the service.
Mrs. Garnsey is survived by a grandson, Dr. Hubert H. Garnsey,. Jr., Syracuse, with whom she resided; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Hubert H. (Pearl) Garnsey Sr., Canandaigua; three great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, and a
niece, Mrs. Beulah Burgess, Clayton.A son, Hubert, died in 1969.
Born in the Town of Clayton, March 1, 1884, the daughter of William R. and Minnie Denny Steele, she attended rural schools and married Burton M. Garnsey on Dec. 24, 1902 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Frederick Cuppernal, with Rev. L.N.
Sirrell, officiating.The couple operated a Red and White grocery store in Clayton for many years, retiring in 1942. The Garnseys celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in December of 1952.
Mr. Garnsey died in 1957 and Mrs. Garnsey moved from Clayton to Syracuse in 1968 and resided with her grandson.

Obituary: CLAYTON, Jan. 2, 1962---Mrs. Jessie B. Carnegie, 80, formerly a resident of 240 James St., died Saturday night in Mercy Hospital, Watertown, where she had been a patient since Dec. 19.Prior to entering the hospital she had been a patient seven months at the Tenney Adult Home, 414 South Massey St. Mrs. Carnegie had made her home at Clayton until April, 1960, when she came to Watertown to live with her daughter, Mrs. Leo
B. (Christine) Conant, 116 Charles St. She had been ill six years.Mrs. Carnegie's body was removed to the Cummings Funeral Home.
Funeral was held this afternoon at 2 at the First Methodist Church, with Rev. Russell E. Little, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in the spring at Grindstone Island.
Mrs. Carnegie is survived by her daughter; three sons, J. Benton Carnegie and David B. Carnegie, both of Syracuse; R. Andrew Carnegie, Clearwater, Fla.; a sister, Mrs. Ella Carnegie, Clayton; four grandchildren, and six
great-grandchildren.She was born March 11, 1881, at Dalbeattie, Scotland, to Mr. and Mrs. Robert Parker Brown, and came to this country with her parents as a child of 5. After attending school on Grindstone Island, she lived on Grindstone Island and in
Clayton until moving to Watertown in 1960. She was married to Robert Carnegie in 1896 in the Clayton Methodist Church. He died in 1917.Mrs. Carnegie was a member of the Clayton Methodist Church and was active in church affairs for years. She was also a member of the Eastern Star and the Rebekahs.
Obituary (from Watertown Daily Times of 8 May 1985): David B. Carnegie, 85, of 723 Onondaga St., Syracuse, formerly of Watertown, died Friday evening at Upstate Medical Center, Syracuse, after a long illness.
A funeral was held Monday at the Greenleaf Funeral Home, Syracuse.
He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Christena Conant of Holcomb, formerly of Watertown; a brother, Andrew Carnegie, Belair Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.
A brother, Benton Carnegie, died before him.
Born on Grindstone Island on Jan. 8, 1900, a son of Robert and Jessie Carnegie, he worked on the ferries in New York City until being drafted into the Army in 1942. After his discharge, he moved to Syracuse, where he was employed by the
Chrysler Corp. until retiring.
William's Civil War discharge record says he was a private in the 10th NY Artillery and enlisted 5 Aug. 1862.
