Anna Maria HAUN

Obituary (from newspaper of 15 July 1939):  REDWOOD---Mrs. Anna Mary Felder, 82, wife of Joseph Felder, sr., died Friday at her home here from infirmities of age.  She had been ill four months.

    She was born in Germany on Sept. 20, 1855, daughter of Nicholas Haun and Elizabeth Heebner.  She was married to Mr. Felder on Feb. 1, 1882, at Mainz, Germany, and they came to the United States in 1884.

    On July 14, 55 years ago, the couple came  to Alexandria Bay and in 1895 located on a farm at the foot of Butterfield Lake where they resided until 22 years ago when they came to this village.

    Mrs. Felder was a member of Kirkland Grange, No. 384, and St. Paul's Lutheran Church.

    Besides her husband she is survived by three sons, Carl and Otto of Redwood and Joseph of Plessis; three daughters, Mrs. James (Amelia) Zeller and Mrs. William (Emma) Walton of Redwood and Mrs. Carl (Victoria) Wilson of Watertown, and 16
grandchildren.  A daughter, Mrs. Samuel (Rose) Strang, died in Cleveland, O., three years ago.

    Funeral services will be held Monday afternoon at 2, E. S. T., from St. Paul's Church following a prayer service at the home at 1:30.  Rev. H. B. Krusa of Liberty will officiate.  Burial will be in the Redwood Cemetery, from St. Paul's
Church.


Eleanor L. GALLAGHER

Obituary (from newspaper of 7 Feb. 1994):  CLAYTON---The funeral for Eleanor L. Flanders, 87, will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cummings Funeral Home here with Nelson J. Souva, minister of the Jehovah's Witnesses, officiating.  Spring burial
will be in Clayton Cemetery.

    Mrs. Flanders died at 4:05 a.m. Saturday at Simi Valley (Calif.) Hospital, where she was a patient in the transitional care unit.

    Calling hours are 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Contributions may be made to the Clayton Volunteer Fire Department.

    Surviving are a son, James R., Clayton; a daughter, Mrs. Richard (Jean) Miliani, Simi Valley, Calif.; three grandchildren and several cousins.

    A son, John, died Sept. 26, 1988.

   Born Nov. 26, 1906, in Clayton, a daughter of George F. and Leola Kendall Gallagher, she was raised by her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. Calumet Fitzgerald.  She attended Clayton schools.

    She married Jack Flanders June 22, 1940, in Watertown.  The couple lived in Buffalo after their marriage, returning to Clayton in 1945.  Mr. Flanders, a welder on Thousand Island Bridge project, died in 1967.

    Mrs. Flanders was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, Watertown.


Anita C. SMITH

Obituary (from Watertown Daily Times of 31 March 1979):  GRINDSTONE ISLAND---Mrs. Anita C. Smith Faust, 57, of Grindstone Island, wife of Leo C. Faust, was pronounced dead of an apparent heart attack at 1 p.m. Thursday at St. Joseph's Hospital,
Syracuse.

    Funeral arrangements are with the Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 West Genesee St., Syracuse, where calling hours will be 7 to 9 this evening and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.

    She is survived by her husband, Leo; a son, Frank Cleverly, Marcellus; two step-sons, Gary and Bruce Faust, Syracuse; five grandchildren; three sisters, Irene and Grace, Phoenix, Ariz., and Idelia, Syracuse anda half-brother Roy Finks, of
Florida.

    A native of Syracuse, her marriage to Fred Cleverly ended in divorce.  She married Leo Faust in Syracuse in 1955.

    The couple had been summer residents of Grindstone Island for several years and making the island their year around home last April.


Lewis H. LEONARD

Obituary (from Watertown Daily Times of 8 July 1987):  CLAYTON---Lewis H. Leonard, 80, of 511 Jane St., former patrolman and zoning officer in this village, died Tuesday evening in Mercy Hospital, Watertown, after a long illness.

    A funeral Mass will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Mary's Catholic Church, with Msgr. Herbert H. Hannan, pastor, officiating.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.

    There are no calling hours.  Arrangements are with T.R. Jetty Funeral Home Inc.

    Surviving are his wife, Louise, and a sister, Mrs. Allen (Irene) Mitchell, Oswego.

    Born in Oswego on Jan. 3, 1907, a son of Charles and Clara Durval Leonard, he attended area schools.

    He married Louise Fitzgerald on Aug. 1, 1930, at Rossie, with Rev. Walter J. Charbonneau officiating.

    Mr. Leonard was employed earlier in his life as a New York State Trooper.  He later served as a Clayton village patrolman, and, more recently, as a zoning officer.  He had also worked as a layout man at Black Clawson, Watertown.

    He was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church.
